The problem has been caused by the sand and wax surface blocking the layer of permeable Tarmac underneath which is not allowing the surface water to reach the drains below. The solution to this is to strip the existing surface using a 360 excavator, place the surface to one side laid on a membrane, then once we have removed the surface down to the Tarmac layer then the drainage work starts.

This involves setting out points at 25m intervals along the 880m length of gallop, cutting a slot through the tarmac 150mm wide by 3m in length across the width of the gallop, hand digging the trench to a depth of 150mm into the drainage stone layer beneath, laying a perforated twin wall drainage pipe wrapped in geotextile in the trench. then repeat this operation 30 times and we are ready for the surface to be replaced along with 150 tonnes of new surface

The project was to concrete an area in excess of 2000 m2 of new concrete yard including laying all land drainage and an oil interceptor tank system.

Staff worked late in to the evenings due to the extreme weather conditions in order to make sure that the concrete did not crack.

One site being a large public open space and the other a large country park.  The work will be carried out over a period of five weeks.

Katie is a 21 year old show jumper and producer of young horses. She has trained with some of the top coaches in the country after being selected for British Equestrian Federation’s Young Rider Show Jumping squad in 2009 and has competed and produced to Grand Prix level. She currently teaches and rides full time from her Yard in Gloucestershire. Since selling her top horse in 2011 she have been slowly producing a string of young horses who she hopes will have a successful 2013 season. She is aiming to get them on to some young horse performance pathways and start young rider classes with her now top horse, a 7 year old heart-breaker mare.

We had a very successful day and the show made a profit of over £1000. This money will be used to provide ongoing training for our young show jumpers at the BS Gloucestershire Academy, and also to help fund riders representing Gloucestershire in national team show jumping competitions.
